The second East Lake International Ecological Sculpture Biennale, themed “100%”, commenced on October 17, 2021. In addition to the previous outdoor exhibition area, this year’s exhibition also featured an indoor exhibition area, held simultaneously at the Celebrity Culture Park in the Jiufeng Forest Reserve of Wuhan East Lake High-tech Zone and the Zhi Art Space, Wuhan Creative World. With a comprehensive ecological perspective, the exhibition emphasized a holistic view of natural, social, and cultural ecology, integrating ecological awareness 100% into all aspects of life and art.
The exhibition received a total of 863 artwork submissions from 18 countries and regions. Ultimately, 54 artists participated, showcasing works by renowned artists such as Anish Kapoor, Antony Gormley, Shi Jinsong, Fei Jun, Zheng Jing, Zheng Da, Li Zhanyang, and Wang Huangsheng. The exhibition uniquely introduced new media art, the most cutting-edge and innovative form of contemporary art. Virtual images and digital landscapes created using technological means are undoubtedly ecological, as they replace the traditional existence of art with virtual reality, embodying the vitality and imagination of future generations and providing more possibilities for ecological art.
