As a special project of the biennale, artist Fu Zhongwang’s “Ken Shu Ben – Yao Wen Jiao Zi” series exhibition” in the Food Theater challenges conventional thinking through interactive experiences. The exhibition abandons traditional static display methods; guests engage in creative “reading”, “writing”, and “appreciation” within specially designed “books” and “xuan paper”. Visual expressions are formed through behavioral activities and video recordings.
Inspired by Chinese contemporary critic Lu Hong’s series of works of the History of Chinese Contemporary Art, lifelike three-dimensional books use food as a medium, with rice cakes as pages, wafer paper for the cover, and paired with bamboo charcoal powder “ink” and various pancake “paper”. Participants are encouraged to ponder the deep integration of art and culture through experiences of “chewing”, “nibbling”, and “munching”.
