As Zhi Art Space’s first serial exhibition of Beuys in Wuhan, Experimental Painting in Social Experiments mainly showcases the experimental paintings of graduate students under the tutelage of professors Wei Guangqing and Tang Xiao from the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts.
This exhibition displays the accomplishments in experimental painting education of the School of Experimental Art, Hubei Institute of Fine Arts. Through dialogue with Beuys and spatial interaction, these young artists explore the boundaries of painting in creative ways, deeply understand Beuys’s thoughts, elevate their conceptual understanding, and develop their social awareness and spiritual values. The 20 young artists featured in this exhibition showcase their talents and vibrant energy, offering genuine responses to life, the times, and themselves, through diverse painting styles ranging from realism to abstraction, and traditional to experimental. Their individual insights and quests into the essence of painting, contemporary times, and self-exploration align remarkably with Joseph Beuys’ holistic view of art practice.
