Born in Jinan, Shandong in 1956. Graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Shandong Academy of Arts in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree and stayed on as a teacher. Graduated from the Oil Painting Creation Training Class at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1991. In 2005, he was transferred to Renmin University of China. He is now a professor and master tutor of the Painting Department of Renmin University of China, and a researcher of the Oil Painting Institute of the National Academy of Painting. Director of the China Artists Association, member of the Fourth Oil Painting Art Committee, and director of the China Oil Painting Society.
